· On the studio

A small studio.
One sensibility.

Luftwerke is a small studio. It draws, it makes, and from time to time it releases something into the world.

The studio sits in Newcastle, Australia, in a single room. The work is drawn on a digital tablet, then sent to a partner printhouse for printing on archival paper. We do not run a factory and we do not chase volume.

Our subject is a particular kind of machine — and the world that gathers around it. We are not nostalgic. We are specific. We are interested in things made for the joy of moving through air.

Each release is small and rarely repeated. When an edition closes, the work moves to the Archive and stays there as a record. We do not print it again.

In time, the studio will release apparel and objects, each held to the same sensibility. There is no announcement and no schedule. They will arrive when they are ready.
